    Justin’s Comments:

If you are in the market for a high-end treadmill that can take some abuse and not fall apart, look at this. Actually, stop looking and snap this up at Costco (online or seen at some retail locations) before this deal is gone. This is about as close as you can get to a real commercial treadmill without going to Precor-ville and spending big time bucks.

This treadmill has all the standard frills – a speaker system that even has a subwoofer that allows you to hook up a device, for example an Ipod, and play the music through the treadmill itself. This is neat I guess, but I think a nearby stereo could accomplish the same thing. It has a nice fan that won’t replace a real fan, but can help keep your face cool.

The real meat and potatoes of this treadmill are it’s sturdy (heavy at over 300 pounds) design and powerful motor. It’s 350 pound user limit says a lot about it’s sturdiness – even if you are not near that weight to know it can support a 350 pounder is comforting.

Just talked with Nordic Track and this unit is NOT discontinued. As of 1/14/08 they said they have 15,000 on order through April. Can’t keep up with the demand

    5. LisaM Says:

Costco is not receiving any additional inventory of this product. What is in their warehouses across the country is the end of their stock. They are soldout online. If you see one at a store, and want it, get it or you’ll be too late.

    6. Sven Says:

Went to Costco a week ago.
They said they had just received an email stating that the treadmill will not be discontinued.
I tried to buy the last one on the floor.

There are two commercial 1500′s. The one going for 799 or 899 at Costco is last years model. This years model is basically the same but has the TV built into the display and is the one that is currently in stock and being shipped.

    8. Peter Says:

The review sounds great, if only this was available in Canada.

I bought an NT 1500 last week for $799 that was manufactured on 1/28/08. It’s basically a somewhat stripped down version of the Elite 7xxx series treads and like an Epic 550 w/o a TV. Some rumors of a .5 model with ifit and wireless heart rate receiver installed, but mine was a .4 w/o these. Still a good deal, though.

I purchased this on 4/20/2008 from Costco. They had at least 5 in stock that i could see. This a solid treadmill that easily accommodates a 6 foot runner at full speed. It is quiet, smooth and has excellent cushioning. This one accepts wireless heart monitor but no ifit.I got it for $799 in Oregon , so no sales tax either. Unbelievable value here, this one is a real winner.

    11. Karen Joy-Wilson Says:

Costco in Bridgewater NJ has several available. I just puschased 1 today

    12. JC Says:

I have a question, would the NordicTrack Commercial 1500 be a better buy or the Reebok 8600 ES?

    13. Justin Says:

      JC -

Both are excellent choices, but I have to give the edge to the 1500. It has the longer belt (60″ versus 55″) and more powerful motor. The longer belt is nice for taller people and anybody that does a lot of running.

    14. Kendra Says:

Costco in Toledo, Ohio has 9 left as of 8-14-08. I bought one last night. It is not the one with the TV, and the wireless heart rate monitor is NOT included, it’s a $100 add-on. $825 if you pick up in store. Nice long and well cushioned deck. Very heavy to move, but easy to put together. Nice large display numbers. Great speaker sound when you hook up an MP3. Not as quiet as some of the other upper-end models, but not bad.

I’m considering buying the NT Commercial ZS, which is basically the 1500 from what I can tell.

My plan is to use it for a treadmill desk. So my question is about how it performs for walking. I was only able to use a model set to a feature locked demo, so it was hard to evaluate.

Does the unlocked one allow you to just turn it on and start the belt at a given speed, or does it have to sense that you are walking first? The one on demo wouldn’t start until I started walking on it, and the pace it required was higher than I would normally walk (0.5 – 1 mph).

Also, what are the speed increments?

      Thanks!

    16. Melissa Says:

I have the 1500 and am really enjoying it. My one question…doe the unit have the ability to pause a workout? I only see Start and Stop.

    17. Frank Says:

I bought the Commercial ZS from a local Costco store, which is the replacement for the 1500. Had a good workout just moving the 300 lb. box into the house. Once it’s in place, don’t expect to move it again for a long, long time. Solid and heavy piece of equipment. Putting the parts together was easy but it was dead right out of the box due to a bad controller card. No lift or belt movements – just dead. Cost of couple of major replacement parts will be about buying a new ZS treadmill replacement. The console part is close to $650! Don’t trust the electronics and I will buy the 3-year extended warranty for insurance.

The front rollers are too small for moving this heavy monster. It requires a surge protector and need to unpluck the power cord when not in use. Yes, manual requires the power cord disconnected from the outlet otherwise the electronics will burn up as indicated on the manual! Looking forward to a workout once I have the replacement controller board. Very good value when its working but cut corners on the warranty.

    18. David Says:

Looks like Costco is now selling the Reebok T 12.80 in place of the NordicTrack ZS. Same manufacturer — ICON — and the specs look the same. But how can the reviews for the NT ZS on Costoco’s website be so divergent. People either absolutely love it (probably 90%) or can’t stand the fact that it breaks almost immediately (about 10%). Must be a quality control issue on some percentage of the machines.

    19. Steve Says:

I purchased the NordicTrack 1500 commercial treadmill after doing a little research and reading some reviews. It’s obviously not the most expensive treadmill in the world, but I thought that it would be dependable and that it would serve me well. How wrong I was. (My previous treadmill, from a different company and half the price of this one, lasted 2 years before it had any problems)

I bought this treadmill in March of 2010. I use the treadmill 5 to 6 days a week (when it works). In fact, I utilize the online workout service that NordicTrack advertises (which, by the way, is great). After only three months the drive pulley broke. It took NordicTrack 1 entire month to get it fixed.

Guess what? The machine broke again yesterday. This time it is the lift arm that helps with the incline function (It doesn’t even look like metal, but I’m not a metallurgist). I couldn’t believe it. Broken twice in only 6 months. Not exactly a quality product.

I have not used the machine beyond it’s stated capacities. I do the online workouts 5-6 days a week, and I weigh 210 pounds (not anywhere near the stated weight limit).

In addition, customer service has been downright rude (especially this last time). They prefer to argue with you rather than help you. They treated me as if I had done something wrong, even though it’s their “quality” machine that has broken twice in 6 months yet has been used according to their instructions. Who knows how long it will take them to fix it this time?

My advice, steer clear of this treadmill and NordicTrack. There is no way this treadmill would hold up in a commercial venue let alone in your home.
