Justin’s Comments:

This is a treadmill made for that guy or gal that likes to walk at a leisurely pace while pumping light weights. This combines your cardiovascular workout with some light weight training. Can you do this on any treadmill just by grabbing some weights? Of course. This one just conveniently provides the weights and a place to put them.

This treadmill is designed for the walker. The running area (belt size) is too narrow and short and the motor too weak to handle anything but a real light jog here and there. The treadmill itself is lighter than most heavier duty treadmills at only 170 pounds – and it’s noticeable if you do try and run – the thing wiggles and shakes like it will fall over.

I do commend Proform on the create-a-workout feature, which essentially allows you to design and save your own custom workout. I always wondered why in this day and age other treadmill manufacturers still don’t have this feature.

    Justin’s Comments:

This treadmill is ideal for :

                GRANDMA

Don’t even think about using this for anything but light walking. It is underpowered, poorly made, has a short belt (50″ is not suitable for running unless you are 4″ tall), and is made by Proform. There are plenty of better treadmills in this price range, so unless this falls to $300 I couldn’t even recommend it based on it being a good value.

    Justin’s Comments:

This is a discontinued model that is being liquidated at Costco, Sears, and directly from Proform. I wouldn’t even bother to review it at this point aside from it is getting quite a bit of interest due to the rock-bottom pricing seen at some retailers. If you really want this, and I can’t see why anyone would, snatch it up before they are all gone.

Proform has a reputation for making cheap treadmills for Sears. Granted, they seem to be improving in quality over the last year but I still consider a brand to stay away from in general. With that said, I have several issues with this low-end treadmill, some of which come with the territory of being a low-end treadmill, others are specific to this model. I will start with problems that can be expected in a $500 treadmill: it looks cheap, and worse yet feels cheap – yes, the deck is “solid” as in your foot doesn’t fall through it onto the floor, but the console part noticeably shakes as you run. This could make reading impossible, my water bottle even fell off a few times. The problems that are unique to this model are it’s short belt: 50″ is unacceptable, I am 5’9 and consider 55″ to be the minimum I can really run on.

The bottom line is that this treadmill is for light walking by grandma. Sorry, but if you want to run and really get in shape, you will have to skip this cheap-o and drop a few more dollars.

      Justin’s Witty Commentary:

So, you’re looking at the Sears special huh? Aimed at walkers, this could be a good buy if you plan to do mostly walking. This is not a treadmill for running marathons. You can also workout your arms as you walk with the ski pole type things on the sides. Get this on sale for $400, it’s not worth the MSRP of $500. Proform has a reputation as being shitty, but early reviews seem to favor this bargain treadmill – only time will tell their reliability however.
